This past weekend, I attended my very first comic convention, Wizard World. It was amazing to say the least. I have never had so many nerdgasms as I did those three days.
One of the best things I got to experience, were the celebrity panels. There’s something exciting and intimate about sitting in a room full of fans who are getting to ask their favorite actors some of their most burning questions. It’s also very humbling of the actors themselves to take the time to answer the questions, even though I am sure a lot of them are repeats. A few of the panels that really stood out for me were the Daredevil panel, David Tennant/Billie Piper panel and James Marsters panel.
Lets start with Daredevil. Although it was a shame Jon Bernthal cancelled, I was still really impressed with Charlie Cox and Eldon Henson. It’s so nice to see costars who genuinely get along with each other. That’s one of the reasons the show is doing so well. Charlie and Eldon’s chemistry together is evident onscreen and off and they are very supportive of one another. The best part was when someone from the crowd asked them if there was something the other does that was annoying and Eldon Henson immediately stated he knew something. Charlie Cox looked over and stated, “Well don’t think about it or anything.” We were then advised by Eldon to “never stand downwind of Charlie after he has had his protein shake.” The audience erupted in laughter. Again, the comradery between the two of them was such a pleasure to see.

Next, the Tennant and Piper panel. It is so refreshing to see an actor who is also a fanboy. David Tennant was obviously a big Doctor Who fan before he landed his role as the doctor himself. The light in his eyes as he talked about things he likes from the series was such a pleasure to see. It’s easy to listen to someone talk when it’s clear they are very passionate about it. Billie Piper stated she never really watched Doctor Who before she had landed the role as Rose, but you could tell she really enjoyed having been on the show with David. They were playful together and even joked about what the Doctor was trying to tell Rose at the end. I believe they said “I like to borrow your jacket,” and “I like your kitchen set,” much to the chagrin of the audience who were really wanting to hear the Doctor say those meaningful words to his companion.

Last, but by no means least, was James Marsters panel. For those of you who either spent the 90’s under a rock or were not yet born, James Marsters played the role of Spike on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series. Being one of my crushes from way back when, I was SUPER excited to sit in this panel and I was not disappointed. James let us all know that we could ask him anything we wanted as he was not ashamed or embarrassed to answer whatever dirty questions our minds could create. And one such audience member did not fail in that quest. She unabashedly asked him what his favorite position was,…………sexually. He immediately let us know that he does not have a favorite and proceeded to tell us that each position has its own specialty, such as one has more friction and another you get closer contact. He then let us know he like to do as many positions as possible in a session. Every woman, and I imagine some of the men, in the room were very pleased to hear this. He was another, like Tennant, who is a huge fanboy. His panel was probably my favorite and I cant wait for the next time he comes to St. Louis.
Sitting in on panels was something I had never done before, but I quite liked it and am looking forward to hopefully doing it again next year.
My rating of the panels? 100/100 tiny hands!
