TWIG: Pokemon vs Steampunk Assassin

POKEMONBLACK2POKEMONEWHITE2

Pokemon Black/White Version 2

October 7, 2012

Nintendo DS

These are sequels, with more Pokemon! Because we need more! I know I’m being sarcastic about this series, but it’s been going on for how long now? And they still haven’t found all the pokemon? I’m waiting for the game where Professor Oak is in a home, Ash and Misty are hate-married, and Pikachu has finally evolved and has a million little electric mouse babies and is plotting to overtake the world.

Made for Nintendo DS, this game is a sequel to the fifth generation of Pokemon games, known as Pokemon Black & Pokemon White. Following up on the original, this game introduces new Legendary Pokemon.

DISHNORED

Dishonored

XBox 360, PC, PS3

This sleeper is from Bethesda and Arkane Studios and it looks fairly interesting. “Revenge solves everything” is the ending tagline from the introductory trailer, and sums up the game pretty well. It’s one long revenge mission, or one big Dark Brotherhood mission? (I’m a Dark Mother junkie.) Throw in the steampunk inspired world and I’m going to have to keep an eye out for this one.

Dishonored is set in Dunwall, an industrial whaling city where strange steampunk- inspired technology and otherworldly forces coexist in the shadows. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is besieged by plague and ruled by a corrupt government armed with industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

FABLETHEJOURNEY

Fable: The Journey

October 9, 2012

Xbox 360 Kinect

Will this Kinect game fail or succeed? Considering this game has been in development since before Fable 3, and before the Kinect became available to the public, it’s fair to say that a lot of love and labor went into this. I’m tempted, but we’ll see how the Fable fans take to this.

Fable: The Journey offers a whole new way to experience the deep storyline and picturesque world of Albion that fans have come to know and love. Set 50 years after the events of Fable III, this new version asks you to come to the aid of the mysterious Theresa, who thrusts you into an action-packed adventure full of dangerous enemies, hair-raising chases and humorous characters. Built from the ground up for Kinect, Fable: The Journey gives you the power to wield magic as a deadly weapon, defend yourself in combat and solve puzzles on your journey to becoming a hero.

XCOM

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

October 9, 2012

XBox 360, PC, PS3

XCOM: Enemy Unknown will place you in control of a secret paramilitary organization called XCOM. As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technologies, and overseeing combat strategies and individual unit tactics.

The original X-COM is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made and has now been re-imagined by the strategy experts at Firaxis Games. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will expand on that legacy with an entirely new invasion story, enemies and technologies to fight aliens and defend Earth. You will control the fate of the human race through researching alien technologies, creating and managing a fully operational base, planning combat missions and controlling soldier movement in battle.

CODEOFPRINCESS

Code of Princess

October 9, 2012

Nintendo DS

This Japanese import is an artsy RPG with all the classic elements: fighting, pretty women, magic, and fantasy animals. From the screenshots I saw, the gameplay doesn’t look revolutionary, but it does look very pretty. For a handheld game, it looks entertaining.

An action RPG brawler for Nintendo 3DS with cooperative and competitive multiplayer, Code of Princess deftly deftly blends fighting gameplay with components from classic arcade side-scrolling beat ’em ups and the character development and customization of an RPG. Up to four players can take on challenges cooperatively or battle against one another in competitive play. Both modes are available locally or online via Nintendo Network.
