We have all been there before. For whatever reason, your precious smartphone is FUBAR, and you need to have it replaced. Over the years, we have been able to slowly but surely ease the grip that cell phone providers had on us when it came to this situation.
Remember when they were the ones who had to transfer contacts, pics, and all that stuff over to your new phone? How about the annoying fact that you couldn’t transfer over any purchases, like ringtones or games? Well with the advancement of technology, we now have a little something called cloud storage. All of your goodies are stored in a cloud, and whenever the need arises to replace your phone, you can access the cloud and download all your precious info onto your new phone.

There is a plethora of cloud storage apps nowadays, with seemingly everybody throwing their hat into the cloud storage ring. One of these cloud storage apps is this week’s app review, G Cloud Backup. What makes this app so awesome is its simplicity. Seriously, within 3 minutes I had the app installed on my Galaxy S3 and my phone’s contents backed up. We’re talking apps, contacts, SMS messages, pics, videos, music, call logs, everything! This is by far the easiest cloud storage app I have ever used.

The app is beautiful to look at as well, the colors pop off the screen and give the app life. This is important because waiting for anything to download or backup is super boring, but if you have something to look at, then it goes by quickly. You can set up the time that the app backs up your info, as well as if you want to use a WiFi connection or your 3g data connection to complete the backup. You can have it back up daily at the same time, so you can be sure that any new goodies you pick up throughout the day will be in a safe, secure location. G Cloud Backup gives you 1GB storage for free, but currently offers 10GB of storage for $0.99 per month. Because of the ease of use, the beautiful look, and the amount of storage you get for free, I have to give this app a rating of 4/5.

About Steven Brewer

I’m a lifelong comic book fan. Comics pulled me in at an early age, with influences ranging from Chris Claremont’s historic X-Men run, Walt Simonson’s Thor run, Mike Zeck’s run on The Punisher limited series, Jim Lee’s X-Men, the early 90’s X-Men animated series, and the best cartoon ever made, Batman: The Animated Series. As a kid, these comics and cartoons gave me a new world to go to when the real world wasn’t so nice. Because of this, comic books will always have a special place in my heart. I love everything about comics, and still get the same feeling reading them today as I did when I was a kid. My major in college was psychology, so I love to incorporate that into comics.
