Android App-Aholics Anonymous: SwiftKey 3

App: SwiftKey 3

Developer: Swiftkey

Price: Free (trial), $3.99

Rating: 5/5

At the urging of a friend, a fellow Samsung Galaxy S3 owner, I installed the free trial version of this week’s app to see what all the fuss was about. I was not disappointed in the slightest.

What an intelligent, beautiful app the SwiftKey 3 Keyboard is!

I mean, this app learns your typing style quickly, and can be set up to apply it to every app you open up on your phone. I’ve always been a skeptic when it came to keyboards on touchscreen phones. Mostly due to the fact that I have bratwursts for fingers, I never really cared about what keyboard I had because I would always find quick typing difficult on any touchscreen.

Well, SwiftKey is the best keyboard you can have on any phone. It learns your typing style so well, that pretty soon you are only pressing the space bar to type a message. More than your typing style, SwiftKey learns how you speak. It learns your speaking habits, what phrases or words you use most, and makes them readily available to you whenever you type. You can even set it up to learn your personal dictionary via your Twitter or Facebook posts, or your Gmail messages. This app is scary smart, guys.

It also supports a ton of different languages. To go along with its vast amount of intelligence, it has brought along several different themes that are simply beautiful. I, myself, am sporting the blue neon theme on my s3 (Gorgeous!). This is one of those mythical apps that are so good you are actually WILLING to pay for the full version. The SwiftKey 3 keyboard is that oh so rare combination of beauty, brains, and functionality. I’m highly recommending this app to anyone who wants to get the most out of their Android powered phones, and that’s why I have given it a perfect rating.

About Steven Brewer

I’m a lifelong comic book fan. Comics pulled me in at an early age, with influences ranging from Chris Claremont’s historic X-Men run, Walt Simonson’s Thor run, Mike Zeck’s run on The Punisher limited series, Jim Lee’s X-Men, the early 90’s X-Men animated series, and the best cartoon ever made, Batman: The Animated Series. As a kid, these comics and cartoons gave me a new world to go to when the real world wasn’t so nice. Because of this, comic books will always have a special place in my heart. I love everything about comics, and still get the same feeling reading them today as I did when I was a kid. My major in college was psychology, so I love to incorporate that into comics.
