There are a lot of different sites out there that devote their time and content strictly to the Android OS. One of my personal favorites is Android Central. The site is very informative, great looking, and the content provided is top notch. The guys over there are really at the top of their game. Fortunately for us, their Android love gets spread to the phone app as well. The app is simple, yet packs in a lot of great content. Right from the homepage, you can move from the top news stories, podcasts, tips, and apps articles. The tabs on the information bar at the bottom of the screen allow you to search, check out popular topics, and customize the app and even report news if you happen to come across some. The links within each story are easily accessible and keep you in the app. You can also play videos within the app. There is even a widget that provides the latest news that you can place on your phone’s home screen, and it actually updates properly (gasp!). The ads are present, as with most free apps, but are minimal and do not take away from the app itself. The content is what is important. See, some of these sites can be like a beautiful woman that isn’t too bright. She may be great to look at, but if having a conversation with her is like having a conversation with a bag of ham, then the experience can be frustrating (too harsh?). Fortunately, the content on this app is very informative and they do a great job of reporting on the rumors with a grain of salt. This is a plus, because we all know how frustrating it can be to read an article that reports a rumor as fact only to see it be proven wrong in the coming days, or even hours and minutes (OS updates anybody?). Overall, this app gets a great review because of its simplicity, its beauty, accessibility, and content. If you don’t have the Android Central app then you are truly missing out on a great experience.
