Last One Standing: Firefly Crew VS. Futurama Crew

The most long lived short lived show around.

Ship: Serenity, Midbulk transport, standard radion-accelerator core, classcode 03-K64, Firefly

Captain: Mal Reynolds, The emotionally diverse captain of Serenity and friend of his crew. Also a fan favorite who ranks along with other captains like Kirk and Picard when it comes to fans.

No, son. You murdered yourself. I just carried the bullet a while.

First Mate: Zoe Washburne, war time friend of Mal and wife of Wash. She is rough, tough, and hot.

Knew a man who had a hole clean through his whole shoulder, once. Used to keep a spare hankie in there.

Doctor: Dr.Simon Tam, stiff rigid genius who cares for his sister deeply. He starts a relationship with Kaylee and slowly starts to defrost.

My God. You're like a trained ape... without the training!

Muscle: Jayne Cobb, a morally troubled mercenary, who acts dumber and meaner, than he really is. Jayne is sometimes shown as a bad guy, but as the story progressed he started to care more for the crew.

That's why I never kiss 'em on the mouth.

Pilot: Hoban “Wash” Washburne, the comedy relief of the crew, he is often making jokes no matter how dire the situation. The hilarious pilot and sometimes mechanic who loves plastic dinosaurs.

Well, I'm so very sorry, sir. I guess the news that we're all gonna be purple and bloated and fetal in a few hours has made me a little snippy.

Mechanic: Kaylee Frye, the sweet and bubbly mechanic with a crush on Simon. Kaylee was the heart of the group and was proof that there were still good pure people left.

Sometimes a thing gets broke, can't be fixed.

Old Man/Cook:  Shepherd Book, the moral conscience of the group, Book holds many secrets. He is a surprisingly tough adversary and is incredibly wise.

I'm just trying to remember how many miracles you've performed.

Crazy Crew Member: River Tam, the psychotic and sometimes psychic sister of Simon. Although crazy she can kick some serious ass, and play some crazy mind games.

They weren't cows inside. They were waiting to be, but they forgot. Now they see sky, and they remember what they are.

Cancelled then came back, this show did something Firefly couldn't

Ship: Planet Express Ship

The Tech is much better than Serenity

Captain/Muscle/Pilot: Leela, the one eyed ass kicking captain, and Fry’s love interest. She is generally the reasonable one, although she is known to let her emotions get the best of her from time to time.

I usually try to keep my sadness pent up inside where it can fester quietly as a mental illness.

First Mate: Fry, out of his own time and struggling with his job as a galactic delivery boy. Fry is dumb, happy, and a moral compass for the crew.

So I really am important? How I feel when I'm drunk is correct?

Doctor: Dr. Zoidberg, the staff physician who knows little about humans, and hated by most of the crew. Zoidberg seems to cause more problems than he fixes, yet he still travels with the group.

Why not Zoidberg?

Mechanic: Amy, although she seen as a mechanic rarely, she’s all they have, and she’s a rich kid. She is always trying to break away from the path laid out by her parents.

Look, everyone wants to be like Germany, but do we really have the pure strength of will?

Old Man/Crazy Person: Professor Farnsworth, the incredibly old owner of planet express and mad doctor. Farnsworth has many inventions, that tend to put the crew in trouble.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Cook: Bender, foul mouthed, drunk robot, and Fry’s best friend.Bender is a robot with no conscience, who loves booze and smoking, Fry and Bender are close friends and have gone through hell (literally) to help each other.

This calls for a party, baby! I'm ordering a hundred kegs, a hundred hookers, and a hundred Elvis impersonators who aren't above a little hooking, should the occasion arise!

So who would win? It’s difficult to say, after all these are two very different teams, physically The Firefly crew destroys The Futurama crew, but the Futurama crew has inventions and tech that far exceeds that on Serenity. I know I left out some characters from both shows, but I didn’t see them as a weighing factor on either side.  So after a discussion with fans from both series I give the win to the much more rugged Firefly crew.
