Geek Book Review: Supernatural – Coyote’s Kiss

For those of you who know what the basis for the “Supernatural” series is you should already know what these books are about, but for the rest of you let me do a little recap.

(Synopsis from the book) Twenty-nine years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. In the years after, their father, John, Taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America… And he taught them how to kill it.

So as you can tell the two Winchester brothers travel the US taking out any supernatural evil that they come across. The Supernatural series combines accurate facts about supernatural lore, action packed fight scenes and witty/geeky humor that everyone can enjoy.  Christa Faust’s addition to the Supernatural book series makes no exceptions.

Coyote’s Kiss follows the Winchester boys on a trip down to Mexico where they hook up with some very interesting friends who help them subdue yet another evil that has plagued mankind.  Here is a synopsis of the story:

A truck full of illegal Mexican immigrants slaughtered with supernatural force is found by the side of a road. Trying to find answers, Sam and Dean are plunged into the dangerous world that exists along the Mexican border. They encounter a tattooed, pistol-packing bandita on a motorcycle who seems be everywhere they go before they get there. Xochi Cazadora draws them into a whole new world of monsters…
Supernatural novel that reveals a previously unseen adventure for the Winchester brothers, from the hit TV series!

Supernatural is one of my favorite shows on TV at the moment and I hadn’t , until now, read any of the book offerings that were tied to the show.  As soon as I picked up Coyote’s Kiss I was hooked.  Christa Faust’s writing style matches the heartbeat of the TV show perfectly to the point of tricking you brain into thinking that you are watching TV not reading a book (this is when you know it’s good).

Coyote’s Kiss takes place during season 6 of the series yet even if you haven’t watched the series that far or even at all, Christa Faust will bring you up to speed during the story without making you read the classic “this is what happened so far” crud.  With tense action sequences and heart touching emotions this book takes you on a roller coaster ride that your’ll want to experience again and again.  Fans of the series will love the attention to detail that makes the book versions of Sam and Dean just like the TV versions.

If you have watched the TV series “Supernatural” and want more in between episodes then pickup some of the books including Christa Faust’s Coyote’s Kiss from Titan books, and if you have never watched the show before in y0ur life…
This book would still be a safe bet for anyone who enjoys witty humor and demonic possession.  Think “The Dresden Files” only with a longer running TV show.

(disclosure)
Coyote’s Kiss compliments of Titan Books.  Visit them to find more books in the Supernatural series.
