8 Easy and Geeky Pumpkin Carving Ideas Volume IV

It’s that time of the year once again!  Halloween is this weekend and you need some geeky ideas for your pumpkin.  Well 8dayageek is always here to help.  As in years past, I’ve scoured the internet for pics of the coolest and geekiest jack-o-lanterns around.  I try to find ones with images not entirely too difficult to replicate .  I am not a very artistic person typically, yet I’ve personally carved pumpkins with images we’ve featured on these yearly lists and they have turned out great.  Half these images wouldn’t even be recognizable to your average aged trick-or-treater, so even if it’s not perfect…they won’t know.  Let’s get to it…

oblivion pumpkin

#8. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion-Bethesda may be ramping up for the release of Fallout 4 on November 10th, but you can still show your love for one of their best games ever.  Open a gate to Oblivion this Halloween by carving the Daedric letter “O” on your gourd.

superman pumpkin

#7. Superman/Supergirl-This week marked the debut of the new CBS drama, Supergirl.  I’ve seen plenty of positive reviews and the show is on my TiVo at this moment.  Why don’t you show your love for all things Kryptonian by emblazoning your jack-o-lantern with the logo of the Man of Steel?

tivo pumpkin

#6. TiVo-Speaking of TiVo, I am a huge fan.  I am brand loyal to the DVR that changed my television viewing forever.  Their happy little anthropomorphic television set logo guides me through system updates, advises me of recording conflicts, and is always just so darn jolly while doing so.  Three TiVo “thumbs up” to putting this happy fella on your squash this year.

green lantern pumpkin

#5. Green Lantern-In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight.  Let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!  Take the green lantern oath this Halloween by carving the symbol of the Green lantern Corps on your pumpkin.

stargate pumpkin

#4. Stargate-This franchise included three films and three television series that spanned seventeen years.  Interestingly enough, I personally watched all three films and all seventeen years (354 episodes) of the television shows during the summer and fall of 2013.  Now it is one of my favorite shows.  Dial your favorite combination of chevrons and etch this beauty on your gourd.

storm trooper pumpkin

#3. Stormtrooper-With the Force Awakens opening in December, it just wouldn’t feel right having this year’s list without a Star Wars entry on it.  Carve this guy on your jack-o-lantern and have him guard the porch from the rebel scum who seek to vandalize instead of trick-or-treat.  Fair warning…they’ve been known to be poor shots.

thundercats pumpkin

#2. Thundercats-Quite possibly the best 80’s cartoon ever.  Plain and simple.  If you’ve never held a toy sword above your head and yelled, “Thundercats, Thundercats, THUNDERCATS, HO!!!!”; well then you’ve never lived, my friend.  Relive that memory and slice this logo into your squash this year.

cthulhu pumpkin

#1. Cthulhu-How could you have Halloween without paying homage to one of the forefathers of modern horror and science fiction?  You really shouldn’t.  That’s why H.P. Lovecraft’s High Priest of the Great Old Ones gets the number one spot on my list this year.  No one may be EXACTLY sure how to pronounce his name, but you can be sure he looks cool on a pumpkin.

That’s my list for this year!  If you’ve got a geeky pumpkin planned for this weekend, snap a photo and send it to me at [email protected] or on Twitter @seanmlscott.  Thank you to all the sources around the net for the awesome pumpkin artwork.  Until next time…Allons-y!
