The exhausted genre of the endless runner meets a unique RPG twist! God of Blades is not the typical button-masher, but it is a well-executed waltz of precision and grace. You play as the Nameless King (or Queen), rising from your death for what purpose? To slay hordes of foes, of course!

Pros: As with many modern games, White Whale has invested the time and effort to ensure God of Blades was a beautiful piece. Even for a 2D sidescroller, the character and worldly details are impressive. Another great attribute (as briefly commented on above), is the unique gameplay. Instead of smashing buttons and hoping for the best, God of Blades requires some skill to master. Your character is already in constant movement, so no worries on that; your concentration will be spent on swiping your fingers across the screen (in multiple directions) so that you may execute the proper assault on your opponent.

Some Cons: Unfortunately, this can happen with endless runners: while the beauty and grace of God of Blades is appealing, the gameplay can lean a bit towards the boring side. That said, I will give White Whale credit for combatting this with a slew of upgradable weapons (each with their own intriguing biography), and a partial storyline. Sadly, this still wasn’t enough to make up for that extra point, earning God of Blades and imperfect (but solid) 4 out of 5 App-Aholic rating.

Bottom Line: This probably isn’t an adventure Ill keep on my iDevice for too long. It’s a decent time-waster, and that’s about all. As for the $2.99 price tag; with the entire package being what it is, I think God of Blades would fit better into the $0.99–$1.99 bracket. Still, this is a very decent and stable game!
