Street Fighter x Tekken
StreetFighterXTekken

Release Date: 3/6/12
Systems: PC, PS3, X360

First it was Mortal Kombat x DC, now it’s Street Fighter x Tekken. These crossover fighting games are always fun, a little unnecessary in the long run, but nevertheless they are entertaining and there’s usually room on the game shelf for one every few years. Mash those buttons, create your accidental hadoukens, which I spelled correctly on the first try! While I am not a big fan of the two franchises used in this crossover, there are millions of you out there that love Street Fighter, or Tekken, or BOTH, so this one is for you.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a crossover fighting game featuring tag-team style combat between two-character teams of fighters from the Street Fighter andTekken game universes. The initial game in the new series, Street Fighter X Tekken features dozens of playable characters from both of the storied franchises, as well as the option to use familiar button control schemes from both. Additional important features include: customization of attacks through the “Gem System,” a co-op training mode, the ability to tag in a teammate and briefly attack in unison, simultaneous two-on-two four-player battles, and special edition bonus items.

I Am Alive

I-Am-Alive-Banner

Release Date: 3/7/12

Systems: XBox Live Arcade, PSN

The Nothing swept through the world in I Am Alive and now  you get to decide: help strangers and potentially hamper your own survival while doing so or do what you need to do with no regards to others. This is a digital download and sounds terribly depressing but somewhat good.

One year after a worldwide cataclysmic event that wiped out most of the human race, a man struggles for survival in a desolate city as he tries to reunite with his long lost family. In this post-apocalyptic tale, there are no supernatural threats, just an everyman who faces a decaying and hazardous world and humanity’s darkest inclinations. Will you hang on to your humanity and help strangers or are you ready to sacrifice others in order to survive?

Major League Baseball 2K12

MajorLeagueBaseball2k12

Release Date: 3/6/12
Systems: X360, PS3

It’s the 2012 version of a 2K Sports baseball game. It is a sport game, and it is baseball, so… there’s not much to add to here. It almost goes without saying, but I’ll type it out anyway: the rosters are updated.  There is a Skrillex song on the soundtrack if that entices you.

Blades of Time
Blades-Of-Time

Release Date: 3/6/12
System: X360, PS3

Here we have a busty young woman with weapons she’s adept at using running around a magical land with the goal of getting away from it. She’ll get to bounce and encounter plenty of enemies to hack and and slash and shoot. Ayumi (AKA Fantasy Lara Croft) will have a pretty typical adventure in a game with a pretty typical setting, but she’s hot and the monsters are ugly and I really want to give this a try, so it’s going on my “To One Day Borrow or Rent” list. Amazon has this listed as $39.99 brand new, so for the price it might not be that bad.

Play as the gorgeous gunsword-wielding treasure hunter Ayumi as she carves a path of destruction through a mysterious and dangerous island. While rich with bounty, the island is also caught in the throes of Chaos magic. Ayumi soon discovers that it is also the home of thousands of long-held secrets, including special powers and abilities that she can gain for herself. Using everything she can, she must find a way to defeat armies of menacing villains and a multitude of treacherous traps in order to break free of the possessed island’s grasp. With a host of colorful characters, eye-popping visual appeal, tons of treasure and a huge variety of combat skills to master, Blades of Time will satisfy gamers’ hunger for an entertaining yet deep action game that even gamers new to the hack-and-slash genre will enjoy.
